Everyone Says Sales Is a Sport. So Where's the Practice Field?

The biggest company in AI sales coaching has a tagline: sales is a sport, coach your people like athletes.

They're right. And then the whole industry does something strange with that idea.

Athletes flip the ratio. A football team plays one game a week and practices five days for it. A boxer spars hundreds of rounds before a twelve round fight. The ratio is lopsided on purpose, because performance is expensive and practice is cheap.

Sales teams run it backwards. A new rep gets a script on Monday, maybe a ride-along on Tuesday, and by Wednesday they're knocking real doors with real leads your marketing budget paid for. Every door they fumble is a real game. There is no practice.

The industry's answer has been to record the games. Film the real appointments, review them after, coach from the tape. Game film is useful. But no coach in any sport ever said we don't need practice, we have film.

We built the practice field instead.

The video on this post is a full drill against it on expert mode. It's not reading a script at you. It interrupts. It gets suspicious. It hides behind the spouse. And in this clip, it wins. The founder takes the L on camera, because a buyer that folds easy would build reps that fold at real doors.

Earlier this month we ran a tryout for our own setter team. 19 complete strangers signed up, onboarded themselves into ClosingPro with zero hand-holding, and ground the cold-call gauntlet for seats on our dialer. They fought over leaderboard spots like it was ranked play, because it is ranked play. XP, ranks, hard mode, a board everyone can see.

No one forced them to train. Reps avoid practice because roleplaying with your manager in a parking lot is awkward and useless, not because they're lazy. Make practice feel like a sport and they'll grind it on their own.

Sales is a sport. We agree, and that means you need a field, not a film room.

Watch the clip. Then book a demo and try hard mode yourself.

We'll build a buyer live on the demo call.
